Henry Ford was one of the most successful businessmen and philanthropists in American history. He’s most notable for being the founder of Ford Motor Company, which is still highly successful to this day. Highly regarded by personal development and self-improvement guru, Napoleon Hill, Henry Ford changed the way vehicles were made and designed forever.
Ford was born to an Irish American family on July 30, 1863. His family was large, and he had five younger siblings that grew up with him on a farm. Although his family had decent money, he was still raised with a work ethic and believed in the importance of working hard, especially if he wanted money to continue coming in.
And so he worked hard all his life. In 1893, he became a chief engineer and created a buggy driven by gasoline, which was called a Quadricycle. He also created the Detroit Automobile Company around that time, but it unfortunately went bankrupt. Still, Ford was not one to give up so easily. He created the Henry Ford Company, and left that, but thankfully the third time was a charm. In 1903, he started the Ford Motor Company, which has sold millions of cars every year and continues to do so.
Since work ethics and labor issues were so important to Henry Ford, he helped play a part in developing the standard 5 days and 40 hours a week jobs. While he was unsuccessful in his attempts to run for Senate, he brought more to the world than many actual politicians do. In 1936, the Ford Foundation was created in order to promote and to develop human welfare through grants.
Henry Ford truly believed that: “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” There are many inspirational quotes about self-improvement and personal development that were contributed by Henry Ford. While he did experience a few failures here and there, they’re small in comparison to everything that he achieved. His successes are still echoed in the world to this day. In fact, his successes helped change the course of history forever.
Henry Ford was someone who had visions, and did everything he could to create them and to make them real. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to change the world overnight, so he took small steps in approaching the larger picture.
“Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs.” He did just that, and if the rest of us take heed to his words, then we can follow in his footsteps in making the world a better place.
