Personal Development: Contribution

"It is one of the beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of the easiest ways and to bring about joy and contentment is by finding a way to contribute and help others. The more people you help, the more good things will come back to you. Everyone should find ways in which they can be of service to others. You can help others by even doing something such as giving someone who looks like they are having a bad day at work a simple smile. During these tough economic times, if only everyone could contribute to helping others, we would change the world.

Last week I went over to my cousins Paul's house, he and his girlfriend Beth just had a baby girl. They have hit some tough times, and even for awhile they were living in a hotel. When I was there they showed me all the things people gave them for the baby, I was amazed, they had an entire room full of baby stuff. Beth was telling me how she was working up until a week before her pregnancy, when she received an unexpected gift. A senior customer had came in and gave her an envelope. He wished her the best with her pregnancy and thanked her for being kind to him. She didn't open the envelope until she went home later that night. When she opened the envelope she found five hundred dollars.

Start contributing today! It doesn't matter if you have a lot or money or none. Be kind to others, throw some change in a tip cup, tell someone how great a job they are doing, or find a charity, these are all things you can start doing now. I promise, you will enjoy the outcome.

Action Steps

1. Smile More
2. Throw your change in a tip cup for a job well done
3. Acknowledge people doing a great job.
4. Pick a Charity you wish to contribute to. Even if you cannot right now, you will be able to in the future.
5. Hold the door open for others
6. Find a way to help someone

"No amount of reading or memorizing will make you successful in life. It is the understanding and application of wish thought which counts"
Bob Proctor
