“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”
-Jack London
The average person who seeks success or happiness in today’s world often suffers from their inability to work outside of the box. Any type of information we need is now available to us in an instance at the click of a mouse. Although this is a good thing in many cases, we have to be careful of how much of that information we take to heart and actually use.
With all the information that’s now available many of us have become lazy. Instead of looking within for the answers, and using our own natural problem solving skills, we tend to use Google instead. Sure, the ability to have information on any subject available at any second is a great tool, but always consider the credibility of the source. Also remember knowledge is not power! You can have all the knowledge in the world, but that knowledge is only potential power. Action is what makes the difference.
One of the most important things I ask you to consider when using Google or any other search engine is how many people are reading what you searched at that very moment. Depending on the specific keyword it could reach up into the millions of viewers and if that’s the case, are you working within the box or out?
We as people tend to discredit what’s easily available to us and increase the value of what’s hard for us to get. Although all this information is now available for us at instant speed via the internet we take it for granted which leads to inactivity.
In most cases we will search up an answer to our questions, read halfway through the article, and then never apply what we learned. Now if you had to spend hours and hours of your time at the local library searching for the answers to those questions, would you be more likely to use what you have learned?
The internet is a great tool, but like most tools and gadgets, it must be used in moderation. Don’t let the internet cripple your own creativity. Be a leader and not a follower. Be the person writing that innovative article and understand that the truly popular products are not based off of other products, but they were solely created by the creativity and hard work of its creator.
