The Power of Vocabulary

"Words form the thread on which we string our experiences."
Aldous Huxley

If we want to change our lives and begin to shape our destiny, we need to change physically and emotionally. One of the easiest ways to control your emotions is by your choice of vocabulary.

If we are depressed, we will receive depressed results. Vocabulary helps define our emotions. If we can change our choice of vocabulary we can then change our emotions. Our emotions define our state of mind. So as simple as it sounds, it's true. The vocabulary we use can change our current state of mind. If we change our current state often enough we will begin to change our lives.

Now I'm not saying go learn as many words as you can, I'm saying we need to use the right words at the right time. When we are angry, the words we use enforce our emotions. Instead of using those words, pick other words that have the ability to shift your emotion.

One tool I learned from Anthony Robbins in his book Awaken The Giant Within is to use words that make you laugh when your angry. Instead of saying I'm so pissed off, instead use I'm so peeved. This most likely will at the very least make you crack a smile. Use words that empower your positive emotions and decrease your negative emotions. When you begin to use this technique you can make it through the hardest of times. You will become the master of your emotions. The words we attach to our experience becomes our experience.

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity"
Albert Einstein

Asking questions doesn't mean that you are stupid. It simply shows that you are interested with the matter. And because of that, there's so many things you've wanted to know that will enhance your knowledge.
