Self Improvment: Develop The Action Habit

"Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The people who are successful all have one thing in common, they get things done! The quicker and faster you get things done the more you advance and learn. The first step towards success is taking action.

Although this concept is simple, it's the number one fundamental why people are not successful. The action habit is the habit of putting ideas into action now. Are there any ideas or dreams you let go of? Is there anything that you need to get done, but you continue to procrastinate? Follow these steps and break away from procrastination and develop The Action Habit.

Action Steps

1. Do Not Wait
Do not wait till a circumstance is perfect, chances are it never will be perfect. The faster and quicker you take action, the faster you can achieve results. A wonderful quote from Napoleon Hill that sums up this step perfectly is "Don't wait, the time will never be just right." Take action today, the longer you wait, chances are the task will not get easier, more likely harder.

2. Become a Doer
Instead of just thinking about opportunities or possibilities start taking actions. The more actions you take the more you will learn, the more you learn the more you succeed.

3. Idea's Alone Do Not Bring Success
You can come up with a million dollar idea this very second, but if you do not act upon it, its worth nothing. Who knows it possible you have already thought of a million dollar idea, but you never worked up enough courage to take action.

4. Live In The Present
Focus on what you can do in the present, do not worry about what happened last week or a year ago. Do not waste your energy on regrets or on what you should have done, instead direct that energy into getting the things done that you can do now.

It takes courage to take action. Seize your initiative and take the action required today. Is there anything you have been dreading to do. Do it today, these past actions that should have been taken will way you down. The only way to open your mind up to new opportunities, is by eliminating procrastination.

Taking action is also a good test to see if you really want to do whatever it is you are doing.
